During an upgrade of our load balancing setup, our production deployments began to throw errors declaring that the certificate of our load balancers was self-signed and therefore invalid. We did not see this behaviour when testing out the new system using our staging environments.
This prevented connections to a variety of systems that STACK uses for fetching and updating account-related data, which impacted users’ ability to check their balance, card info, etc.
We have resolved the issue and finished the upgrade and would like to apologize for the inconvenience.
This issue was opened retrospectively.
